Flowing along the northern edge of the Chugach Mountains, the Tonsina River is quintessential Alaskan. This river provides
Class III to IV whitewater in a pristine wilderness setting. Eagles, ducks, moose, and bear inhabit the riverine corridor and are often spotted. As well, several species of

salmon migrate up the river throughout summer. The Tonsina is unique in the fact that its rapids drop through low spruce-terraced valley bottom instead of the more typical deep-cut canyons
one associates with this class of water. Come join us for thirty-five enjoyable miles and about six hours (on the water) of sheer Alaskan beauty. Total trip time, including shuttle, is eight to ten hours.
